Still just looking at things differently. This was actually from a while ago, back when it was snowing. Have I mentioned how glad I am that it's warming up?

Yeah, no birds, but still, there is always something worth seeing.

Take a Hike (or a walk, actually)

With summer starting to wind down, there's been quite a few less activity as I would like, so my recommendation: Take a walk. I've probably said this before, but there is a lot to see, even just in your own neighborhood. This gem was taken on my way to the bus stop. The world goes by fast, faster than it used to, but if you don't look up every once in a while, you'll miss something beautiful.

Just Some Things I've Seen Lately

Bicycles and Movies and Lions, Oh My!

It's been a lazy but fidigty last few days, and what happens when you get fidigty? A Day Out and about! I found this lion before taking in a film,

and then I found this after said film.

Look! It's bicycles and a movie at Civic Center Park. Turns out they've been doing this most of the summer, you bike in, catch a movie, get food from a truck, etc.

Tonight's movie was the Social Network. I've seen it, and I did think it was good, but for one thing I'm not sure I would find it appropriate for a movie in the park, and for another, it isn't a movie that I can come in half way and feel like I really need to watch it. Those movies that fit that bill include Robocop, The Iron Giant, and Ferris Bueller's Day off to name a few. I need to look up and see if they will be doing this for the remainder of the summer because I think I will try and catch the next one, even if I don't have a bike, but you know I love movies and food from trucks.

Oh, and for those of you wondering, said film which was not said was Trigun: Badlands Rumble at the ever rockin Denver Film Center Colfax. As always, a great time was had by all.

Here Comes The Rain Again

Falling on my head like a memory, falling on my head like a new emotion. Okay, not really, but who can say no to the Eurythmics? Regardless, we all know there is some debate on the brightness of my particular crayon, and with the odd rain schedule hitting over the weekend and my resultant actions in said monsoon, I think the debate will continue.

In all honesty, I knew full well that climbing on top of that wall, laden with metal poles was a bad idea, but if you aren't living on the edge, you're just taking up space.

When was the last time you went puddle jumping? Sorry about the intimate close up of my size 11 wafflestompers, but sometimes you just gotta go for it.

And for those keeping track, I'm still casting shadows.

I Told You It Would Be Awesome

If you recall, I told you it would be awesome. Was I lying?

Again, a massively fun event, made more so with the presence of good company. And, seriously, if you are not convinced, you should check out the rest on my website. Yes, it's still there floating around the miasma that is the interwebs. So go, check it out. It'll do you some good.

And for those of you who actually recalled, yes, I did have a juice box. It was apple. And it was awesome.

Day Out in the Old World

As always, go out and explore, see things for yourself, discover something about the world that surrounds you. In my case, it seems that in the middle of suburbia, there was a once thriving old English village, now left to decay; to be swallowed by a forest eager to reclaim the land; to shout "never again" to the redcoats that were driven from these shores so long ago.

And if you believe that, well I can't help you. To the best of my knowledge, this region was colonized primarily by the Spanish initially. Or maybe it was the French, my geography is a little rusty, and I'm not quite sure how far north the Conquistadors made it. Also, the shore is a good bit of distance away, and even then it is a lake shore.

I actually came across this leaving the house this morning. I doubt I could have set it up better if I had tried.

Seeing Things

As a photographer, I personally am always looking, always seeing things that amuse me or make me think. Sometimes, what I see doesn't exist and sometimes it does, and sometimes you can't tell. So keep on looking and I'm sure you'll find something yourself.

Another Dog Day Out

This is Ashe. She is a perhaps the greatest dog ever. Even in the "cold" it was great spending the day out with her.

A Day (Night) Out

Spent an evening out at the Albuquerque Botanic Gardens and their Annual River of Lights. Lots of fun and absolutely beautiful. Heard some people complaining about the cold (it might have been maybe +39 F or about +4 C) but all I could think of was, "well, I could be in Petro." I've never been to Petropavl, but I know some people that are there now. I'm pretty sure they'd say it's warm out.


Still haven't had a chance to head down to the Bosque to check out the cranes. It's on my list.

Another Day Out...and About

A Day Out...This time to Santa Fe, NM with a special trip to see the Cathedral Basilica of St Francis of Assisi.

Day Out...at the Rio Grande Zoo

Several things always happen when I go to the zoo, including

1. Having the best-at-the-time-but-will-undoubtedly-make-me-sick-later green chili cheeseburger.
2. Drinking loads of warm water, but still get dehydrated.
3. I try fitting words like "pinniped" into everyday conversation. (the word varies, but you get the idea)
4. Dippin Dots.

Some bonus events from the day included

1. Added some shots to my continuing series “Cast Shadows” and experiments with “HDR.” (Check it out here).
2. Got pooped on (not so much a bonus, but worth mentioning. It was one of the lorikeets that you could happily feed.)
